WBEC West Announces Workshop Series that will Provide A Unique Opportunity for WBENC Certified Women
Educational workshop series to feature corporations presenting on Supplier Diversity and Procurement Mesa, AZ. - February 28, 2011 - The Women's Business Enterprise Council West (WBEC-West), a regional partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), announced its first workshop scheduled for March 15, 2011 in the Platinum Supplier Program Workshop series. The workshop will feature Arnice Lamb, Manager - Supplier Diversity & Sustainability at The Walt Disney Company, presenting the topic The Truth About Supplier Diversity and Procurement - What Every WBE Should Know. The workshop will be broadcasted regionally at Arizona State University SkySong, 1475 North Scottsdale Road, Suite 200, Scottsdale AZ 85257 from 9:00 am-12:00pm. The program is a series of five workshops from March 2011 - May 2011 concentrated on educating WBENC certified women business enterprises on supplier diversity and procurement. This event features corporate members presenting the ins and outs of supplier diversity, the value of being a diverse supplier, and how to get the most out of your WBENC certification. Workshops will concentrate on key topics including The Truth About Supplier Diversity, Strategies to Create a Competitive Advantage, Developing Your Capability Statement, and How to Get a Corporation's Attention. "WBEC-West has created the Platinum Supplier Program to provide an opportunity for certified WBEs to set themselves apart from the norm through extensive knowledge in corporate procurement processes and how different Supplier Diversity programs work," said Dr. Pamela Williamson, the Executive Director of WBEC-West. "It is our mission to provide continuous education for our members that will in turn cultivate sustainable relationships between WBEs and corporations." The workshops are only available to WBENC certified WBEs who are a part of the WBEC-West region. The educational series will be held in a variety of formats. Each workshop will be held live in Los Angeles and broadcasted to local regions with live links (AZ, CO, UT, CA, HI, WY and NV). Members will also be able to participate in the live webinar from any location. Each certified WBE who completes the educational series and demonstrates content comprehension will be awarded the WBEC-West Platinum Supplier designation.
