Walking is a great way to get in shape without straining your body
. It's an ideal way to keep fit for those who have certain injuries or ailments that prevent them from running or doing other strenuous exercise. Using a pedometer is a great way to keep track of how far you walk every day and how many calories you burn along the way. Using an mp3 player or even books on tape can help you.
You will always need to have a decent pair of walking shoes before you set out. Never wear flip flops or shoes that are not meant for athletic movement, because they could lead to blisters. You can buy specific insoles depending on the type of feet you have, and they can alleviate pain. Always wear socks with your tennis shoes as well. Wear comfortable clothes when you go on walks, so you won't get too warm. Walking should be treated as an exercise, so you should anticipate sweating or needing a shower when you get back from a long walk.
