, cheesy images of cherubs and neo-classical buildings? Think again. Advances in digital technology have created an amazing new concept in interior design. The best graphic designers in the world have been busy creating stylish, striking, large-scale images to put on your wall. Best of all, each wallpaper mural is bespoke and is printed to fit the exact dimensions of your wall. This is Haute Couture for your home and while it is not cheap it is certainly not as expensive as its high fashion counterpart.

So what sort of designs is available? Originally the digital printing technology has been used for commercial projects. We have all seen large scale photographic images of cups of coffee in the cafe chains. Many designs for the home have been influenced by this but have used the same idea to create really beautiful images such as Wall and Deco's photographic images of poppies that have been enlarged to fill a whole wall.

Some designs are more similar to wallpaper in that they have a repeating graphic but they have taken it to a really huge dimension such as Flowerized, also by Wall and Deco. Alternatively, witty images such as a huge crown or giant Flaminogos make wonderfully original and bold design statements.

So how do they compare in terms of cost? When compared to paint or even to most designer wallpaper, at around 75 per square they are at the luxury end of the market. However, in terms of the statement that they make they can not really be compared to these mediums. They are emore akin to a huge work of art deigned specifically for your home and as such are incredibly good value. If you want to make a real impact then wallpaper murals are the way to go.
