Walt Disney World Orlando Survival Tips

For those parents who have finally given in to their childrens' begging

, and booked a family trip to Walt Disney World Resort Orlando, do not leave the house without arming yourself with these critical theme park survival tips. Walt Disney World is the most visited theme park in the world. There are more than 58 attractions, over 6000 rides and dozens of water parks within the park's 47 square miles. Having a plan for surviving the crowds and line-ups with everyone's sanity still intact is a definite must! Take note of the theme park survival advice we offer here, it may help make the difference between a happy memorable vacation, and a nightmare.

Before setting foot outside the hotel room, have every family member go over a park map and pick out their top three places to visit. Then make a plan to accommodate everyone's wishes - parents need to have an awareness of where they are within the park! Also, get Front-of-the-Line or FastPass passes for everyone. Save long hours waiting in line and just pay the extra cost.

One of the biggest concerns for families traveling to Disneyland is getting lost. Use a map so it is clear where you as a parent are going, and where you happen to be, at any one time. To help everyone be able to easily spot each other, have each person wear a piece of clothing that stands out. It could be as simple as bright yellow baseball hat, fluorescent pink t-shirt, or multicolored toques. As long as it stands out, each family member matches and is easily recognizable in a crowd of hundreds it will work.

Line-ups are inevitable, but there are ways to reduce drastically the amount of time you spend in them. If at all possible, book your family accommodations at a resort on site. By staying at a Disney resort on the grounds of the theme park, your family has early-morning privileges at the parks. That means that before the public is granted access, you can get to your favorite attractions and rides. Before you hit the attractions it's a good idea to have a game-plan laid out. Head to the popular ones first thing in the morning, for example Harry Potter will be super busy so go there first. Line-ups are shortest during parades and meal times, so plan your own meals before or after traditional meal times. When the rides are especially busy, go to the playgrounds and pools, and return later when other people are having their meals.

Disney is a business, so naturally there are opportunities to purchase toys and souvenirs absolutely everywhere. If you strike a bargain with your kids first, you can likely avoid saying 'no' all day long. They can purchase one souvenir at the end of the day. After all, carrying around a package all day will mean bringing it on rides, possible breakage, or even worse - losing it!
