. For getting the designation of a plumber, you need to spend 3 years of your life. After doing the course of 3 years, work with an experienced plumber for at least a couple of years to have required experience for starting up your own work.
For becoming a plumber, first of all you need to get yourself registered for a NVQ course at a technical college. For getting admission you need to clear an aptitude test and should have some qualities like you should have the ability and motivation to learn working of different plumbing systems, you should be able to work under pressure in an emergency situation and you must be able to work out practical and cost effective solutions to different plumbing problems.
A plumber should be able to install and repair gas, water and waste systems for residential and commercial properties. In NVQ courses, a plumber is given both theoretical and practical knowledge. After NVQ course, when you work with a plumber then you get more working experience.
In NVQ Level 2, the plumber gets basic knowledge of doing various domestic things. However, for commercial and industrial plumbing, you need to have a minimum NVQ level 3 qualifications.
A highly qualified plumber is able to easily deal with gas and boilers. He also needs to get CORGI registered or passing the CORGI Approved Registration Scheme. Among all plumbers, extensive knowledge of Building Regulations and Water Regulations is highly required.

There are some basic personality traits that a plumber is expected to have such as: honesty, hard work and good communication skills. A plumber should be able to recognize the problem with very little knowledge because homeowners are often not able to explain the problem properly. Hence, it must be clear by now that it is not an easy task to become a plumber. The training for becoming a plumber needs a lot of time as well as hard work. The salary of a plumber is not good at initial stage but with time and experience, his salary keeps on increasing.
