Many of us always wished to design our own house

, and quite a lot of us are creative enough to do that as well. But, amongst a whole lot of us, some of us even wish to carry out all the supervisory and other functions for our house. We want to make sure that the right material is being used in our house along with the right labor force and the work is being carried out as per our expectations. But, doing this is a much greater effort than getting it done. But some of us do not wish to compromise in any way, do we? So now, our task is that we have to find ways so that we acquire fast, professional accreditations which help us in constructing our own house (of course with the help of others). In other words, we have to become the owner builder.

As the name suggests, the person concerned will be an owner who wants to and is capable of performing the roles of a builder for his/her own house. There are many rules and regulations as per the Australian Law for this matter. The role of the owner builder NSW will and shall only be limited to the property in which he/she lives or intends to live in the future. Nor can this title, on acquisition of it, be transferred to another person. Also, the person must be over 18 years of age to file for a permit. The permit is not issued once the work has commenced and cannot be issued to an acting relative etc.

The works of the owner builder ranges from supervising, ordering of material, maintain safety hazards, etc. It must be noted that even though the owner builder has a permit, there are additional licenses required for specialist jobs such as plumbing, electricity etc. Also, there are many approvals required before commencing the work such as construction approval, using legitimate workers approval, insurance, fair trading approvals and many more.

Another important thing to note before getting into any construction is that there should be an approved White Card Course certificate in hand. This is an accredited course on Occupational Health and Safety (OH & S) which teaches the person how to avoid and deal with hazards in the workplace. On completion, an examination is required to get the certificate.
