Warding Off Psoriasis - The Nature Inspired Psoriasis Remedy
If you have ever suffered with psoriasis you know the struggles of seeking out a cure
, not just from the physical appearance of the disease but also the annoying itching it causes. There are expensive creams and lotions available from most supermarkets, or prescription medications that may offer temporary relief. One modern method to treat the problem is through a psoriasis UVB treatment program, which involves exposing affected areas of the skin to UVB rays. There are also quite a few natural cures for dealing with psoriasis, using products you probably already have lying around the house.
Bathing correctly is one easy and natural way to ease psoriasis. Proper bathing and showering are vital in preventing flare-ups of psoriasis and treating the disease. Showers or baths should be short and in lukewarm water. Spending too long in the bath or in hot water will dry out and irritate the skin. Itching and inflammation can also be relieved by adding minerl, vegetable or olive oil to your bath. After the shower or bath, be sure to apply some moisturizer to your skin.
Another natural psoriasis remedy is to drink water in greater quantities. Keeping the body hydrated on the inside by drinking water will help the skin stay moist. Although keeping the skin moist using lotion is imperative, keeping the body hydrated will help prevent outbreaks. Drinking water is easy and cheap. Look to be drinking at least one and a half litres of water a day. Cutting back on alcohol and caffeine will help too, not only are they diuretics which cause dehydration in the body, they are also common triggers for psoriasis flare ups.
Another way on getting your psoriasis under control is through your diet. The problem with adopting a diet for psoriasis, is that the foods that are good for your body may actually cause a flare-up. Fruits can help fight aging of the skin, but they can also cause flare-ups. Adding in some fish and nuts that contain Omega-3 fatty acids is good for the skin as well. Omega-3 can help prevent future breakouts and reduce the amount of time for current flare-ups to heal.
Supplements that are commonly taken to help with psoriasis are widely available from health food stores. It may require some research to find the best treatment for you, but the all natural qualities are good for your body and skin. Vitamin supplements are great as well, especially Vitamins E and C. Aloe Vera and Olive oil can be taken internally or externally and both are great for the skin.
Psoriasis may not have a cure, but finding some natural ways to deal with the symptoms and controlling the outbreaks can make all the difference in the world.
