Warning Signs And Symptoms Of Prostate Cancer
One of the biggest problems for doctors and patients alike is there are usually no
symptoms for early prostate cancer, perhaps partly because the disease is a slow growing condition, and perhaps partly because of something else. Doctors know this well, but not every patient is privy to that knowledge. Prostate cancer can be diagnosed at this stage often only during the workup for an elevated PSA noticed during a routine checkup. But if the patient does not know to come for that check up, they might miss detecting the disease entirely until much later when it might be too late.

Prostate cancer does have symptoms, though; symptoms that are often similar to those of diseases such as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH, also called an enlarged prostate). They usually begin when the cancerous tumor has grown enough to cause its own prostate enlargement, and continue through the times when the disease starts to invade the bloodstream and lymphatic system.
The said symptoms of prostate cancer include frequent urination, increased urination at night, difficulty starting and maintaining a steady stream of urine, blood in the urine, and painful urination. These are understandable considering the location of the prostate gland. The organ partly surrounds the prostatic urethra, so that changes within it directly affect urinary function. This is what leads to all of these urinary dysfunction problems.
In addition to the foregoing, it should be noted that the vas deferens deposits seminal fluid into the prostatic urethra, and secretions from the prostate gland itself are included in semen content. As a result, this same stage of prostate cancer, a little more progressed, may also result in some problems with the sexual function and performance of the patient. As a result, it is not uncommon for the patient to have difficulty achieving erection or even painful ejaculation at the climax of sex. Many patients have been said to even see blood in their semen as well, a common symptom of this stage of the disease.
But that is not all; there is such a thing as advanced prostate cancer, in which the cancer has spread or is spreading to other parts of the body. Naturally, this also tends to cause its own additional symptoms, typically bone pain. There are other symptoms as well, but the bone pain that is often most incident in the vertebrae, the ribs and the pelvis is the most common and it can be quite incapacitating. Further spread or metastasis of the adenocarcinoma into other bones may then touch the femur, the skull, and even other areas. Especially in the proximal parts of the bones in question.
