Molds also form easily on the rubber gasket of front load washers. Try preparing a mixture of water and distilled white vinegar. Treat the gaskets with this mixture. Let the solution stay there for about 30 minutes until the molds have loosened up. Use towel to remove the debris. 2. Vinegar can also get rid of smelly soap scum. Wash the detergent receptacle with a vinegar solution. If they are difficult to get rid of, soak the area with the mixture of water, vinegar and dissolved baking soda. Let the solution stay there until the scum has fully dissolved. 3. Clean the filter of the machine. Unplug your washer and pull it forward gently. Turn the water source off. Dry the interior of the machine with an absorbent towel. Open the door of the washer to allow air to circulate inside.
