The 21st American season of the CBS competitive reality television series Survivor was filmed in Nicaragua. This is the first time that CBS filmed Survivor there, even if it is not the first time they filmed Survivor Central America. Filming is currently underway. second season of twenty years of Survivor was filmed at the same place, just after the Survivor: Nicaragua is rotated.

The 20 candidates are divided into two tribes on their age. Until a tribal swap in Episode 5, presents the root Espada applicants over 40 years old, while the strain La Flor with applicants aged 30 years and under.

When the tribes merge, combine the remaining castaways compete for individual immunity challenges. One member of each tribe is acting as an advocate and stand on a small platform above a pool of water. The members of the opposing tribe will throw a jump platform at one end of the pool with water and try ball into the net at the bottom. The defender is trying to hit the ball from the net. One point is given for each ball successfully launched the network. The first tribe to score five points to win.
