"The Giant Mechanical Man" is an offbeat romantic comedy about two outsiders -- a
misunderstood street performer (Messina) and the soft spoken zoo worker who falls for him. Akerman will play Fischer's well-meaning sister who pushes her towards dating a pompous motivational speaker, played by Topher Grace. Well, there isnt much to say about this film. When I first saw the title, I thought it would be something like a sci-fi, since it says mechanical, but it has nothing to do with it. Anyway, it covers the story of a street performer who paints himself silver and act like a robot on a corner of a street to earn his living and a woman who is a zoo worker.It is obvious that they both have some social disabilities one way or the other and the woman somehow falls in love with him.If you have seen the trailer, you surely have noticed that we have an author in the film who thinks he can do anything since he is an expert on human relations (self-help books and stuff like that). He also has feelings towards the woman and he is so open and sincere with what he says (social skills). I do think that he contributes a lot to do film since his part in the film is so funny.

This one is going to need some witty writing, clever insight and a cast pulling hard and, to be honest, I dont see much sign of any of the above in these clips. There are some very talented actors here, however Jenna Fischer and Chris Messina in particular.

Jenna Fischer has managed to make audiences (mostly) cheer for her central character arc on "The Office" - her regular sort of love story with John Krasinski has long been one of the focal points of the show, even if we're to admit its essential problem, that it's just a little boring and commonplace. But love stories don't need to be fantastical and large-scale to have emotional impact - they can just be about to regular people who find joy with each other. In that vein, Fischer leads an impressive indie-bent cast in "The Giant Mechanical Man," a film about (mostly) regular people finding (mostly) regular love under (slightly) odd circumstances.
Fischer stars in "The Giant Mechanical Man" as Janice, a woman who doesn't seem able to get excited about anything. Janice is sad and distracted, unable to really muster up much interest in most things. After losing her job, she's stuck moving in with friends who really don't seem to get her - and who think that setting her up with Topher Grace (playing some sort of Tony Robbins lite) is the best thing for her. It's not. What really interests Janice is the giant mechanical man - a silver-clad street performer who, like her, doesn't quite fit into the boxes of every day life. Played by the ever-charming Chris Messina, that "giant mechanical man" is also a zoo worker at Janice's new job - and the two just might find something to get excited about when it comes to each other. Topher Grace's hair in the film is also something to get pretty thrilled about.
