Plus, South Carolina is ranked No. 9 in pass defense with sophomore Stephan Gilmore as the field general. He will take on Auburn WR Darvin Adams. Furman managed 274 yards in the air against the Gamecocks but Gilmore snagged an errant toss for an 80-yard pock for six that sealed the game's outcome. However, Newton is as formidable an opponent with his arm as he is with his feet putting the Gamecocks in the position remaining flexible to be productive.
