Watching For Heart Disease
Heart disease is a heart breaking and life stealing condition
. Many Americans who die from heart disease are not aware of it until it is too late.
Heart disease is one of the top health related causes of death. Atrial Fibrillation, Heart Valve Disease, Heart Failure, Congenital Heart Defects, Heart Muscle Disease (Cardiomyopathy), and Pericarditis are all various forms of heart disease.
While every type of heart disease has varying symptoms, many of them are very similar. These symptoms are different depending on the type of the heart condition and the seriousness of the heart condition.
It is vital that you recognize the symptoms of a possible heart condition so that it can be treated as soon as possible. There are also several tests that can be taken to test for a heart condition when you visit your doctor.
Angina, or chest pain, is the most common coronary artery disease complained about by those afflicted with it. Angina has been described as a discomfort, heaviness, pressure, aching, burning, fullness, squeezing, or pain in the chest, shoulders, arms, neck, throat, jaw, or back.
A lot of the time, those with coronary artery disease mistake it for heart burn or indigestion. Other symptoms of coronary artery disease include shortness of breath, palpitation of the heart, a fast heartbeat, weakness or dizziness, nausea, sweating.
Those who suffer from a heart attack, or myocardial infarction, may also feel discomfort, pressure, heaviness, a choking sensation, or pain the chest, arm, or below the breast bone. This feeling may also be mistaken as heartburn, fullness, indigestion.
Sweating, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, extreme weakness, anxiety, of shortness of breath are other common symptoms leading up to a heart attack. The heart may also have rapid or unusual heart beats.
When these symptoms strike, they usually last for over half an hour and they do not go away as oral medication is taken. The symptoms often develop into worse, more painful ones as time passes.
Occasionally, people have a heart attack without suffering through any of the symptoms as a warning. This is referred to as a "silent" MI.
Silent MI's usually occur among diabetics, but it can happen to anyone. If for any reason you believe you are having a heart attack call for emergency medical help right away.
The sooner you receive treatment after a heart attack, the more the damage will be minimized. Heart attacks are very serious so do not hesitate to call for help.
The symptoms of Arrhythmias are very similar to the previous two heart diseases. These symptoms include palpitations, pounding in the chest, dizziness or light-headedness, fainting, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, weakness or fatigue.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a specialized type of arrhythmia. People who are suffering from Atrial Fibrillation may experience heart palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, chest discomfort, and shortness of breath, but they may also experience no symptoms as all.
Those with heart valve disease may experience shortness of breath, weakness, dizziness, discomfort in your chest, palpitations. Heart valve disease can cause heart failure which would result in ankle and foot swelling, abdomen swelling, and fast weight gain.
This weight gain can be as much as two or three pounds per day. The symptoms of heart disease vary and do not always correspond to the severity of your condition.
Heart failure can also result in a cough that produces white mucus, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, rapid and irregular heartbeats, nausea, palpitation, and chest pain. Similar to heart valve disease, heart failure symptoms do not correspond to how severe your condition is.
Congenital heart defects can be discovered anytime throughout life. These defects can result in shortness of breath, limited ability to exercise, and the same symptoms related to heart failure.
The symptoms of heart muscle disease are basically the same as are experienced with a heart failure. Being aware, recognizing, and treating the symptoms of a heart disease early on can prevent many health complications.
