Watching The Best James Franco Movies With Oklahoma Satellite Tv

If there's a single actor who has managed to really make a name for himself based on the fact that he's a little bit odd, it has to be James Franco

. Whether it's starting a performance art rap project that performs out at big New York Clubs, taking on a permanent, reoccurring role on "General Hospital," or telling "Inside the Actor's Studio" that rabbits turn him on, James Franco is not a typical actor. And whether living in Oklahoma or the middle of Los Angeles, he's the kind of classically good-looking man who turns heads and delivers unforgettable performances.

For those viewers who only know James Franco from his roles lately, it's interesting to look back to how it all began. At first, Franco wasn't a major quirky star; he was just one of the actors on the acclaimed and too-quickly-cancelled television series "Freaks and Geeks," expected to re-air on satellite tv sometime soon. And after this, he took on film roles that aren't quite the same as the ones he's known for now. Instead of choosing independent features or other content, Franco went towards blockbusters. Plenty of people found him charming in "Spiderman," though it was his role as an adorable drug dealer who was selling weed to finance his grandmother's nursing home in "Pineapple Express" that really put him on the radar.

While "Pineapple Express" might not seem like the best pick for a stunning HDTV film at home, "Spiderman" is a reliable choice for the entire family. For those who appreciate Franco for his dreamy factor (and there are plenty out there), then a great choice is "Tristan + Isolde," based on the tragic and epic myth of star-crossed lovers from back in the day. Playing a dreamy stranger washed up onshore might seem a bit silly now, considering the fact that Franco is better known for his serious roles. But for the lead in a dramatic romantic film, Franco manages to actually deliver. And it works out rather well, though the film itself isn't really worth checking out for those who aren't diehard fans.

Anyone with an HDTV set and an interest in the more daring roles that Franco has decided to take on should head to the work that happened after 2006, when he took on the challenging role of Harvey Milk's boyfriend Scott Smith at the same time that he played poet Allen Ginsberg in the film "Howl," which dealt with the tumultuous trial after the City Lights Bookstore published the controversial poem. Since Franco is known for being bookish and interested in counterculture, it's no wonder that he opted for these performances. And while many young actors would shy away from ending up in a position where their picks might end up alienating them from Hollywood, Franco took a page from the Johnny Depp playbook and has been thriving as a result.

For those with satellite tv, Franco's performances hosting "Saturday Night Live" and guesting in random skits happened to be some of the most interesting moments on the show's incredibly lackluster recent seasons. So after Oklahoma's James Franco fans catch up on all of his film roles, it's worthwhile to go ahead and try to find his television performances somewhere, too.
