Kite boarding combines a surf board with a huge kite that propels the boarder along the water at tremendous speeds; this is a thrilling sport but it requires proper instruction so be sure to arrange lessons. Sailing is a much tamer option that will allow you to take in the island's beauty while still experiencing the rush of the warm Canary Islands breeze.

For those who prefer the depths rather than the surface, snorkelling and scuba diving are also available. Crystal clear waters ensure great visibility and allow you to experience the beautiful world under the sea. Scuba Diving is a great skill that can be picked up with a few lessons, but if you have children you might want to consider introducing them to snorkelling first.

There should be a watersport for everyone in Fuerteventura, so be sure to get out on, or under, the water. A holiday split between the water and the beach should be just about perfect.
