Waterbed Conditioner Can Extend The Life Of Your Waterbed
There are few things that feel as good as a restful night of sleep and one sure way to get it is to sleep in a waterbed
. Sleepers should realize, though, that they cannot just fill up their water bed, jump in and doze off. The bed must be maintained properly with waterbed conditioner if it is going to stay in the best possible condition.
Conditioners are solutions that kill bacteria in water beds before it even gets a chance to start developing. If they do begin to develop, the person sleeping in the bed will know it because they will be up all night dealing with noisy bubbles and a very unpleasant, sour smell. Bacteria attach themselves to the liner and cause it to gradually deteriorate over time. No one should go more than twelve months without conditioning their bed, but it is better to do it every six months.
The way that most people condition their mattresses is by using liquid conditioner. These solutions are not only great for stopping the buildup of undesirable elements in the water, but they will also keep the interior of the mattress lubricated so that there will be fewer noisy bubbles. These products are simple to use and can be found at very low cost. For just five dollars, someone can purchase a sixteen ounce container of treatment.
Another popular method of treatment is using tablets instead of liquid. This type of solution is best used with a tube style water bed. Just like the liquid, it is very inexpensive and users can typically buy forty tablets at a price of about twenty dollars. Many waterbed users prefer this method because there are no messy liquids to deal with and dosing is quick and easy.
Instead of using a store bought product, a homemade solution can be used. Simply combine distilled water with sodium thiosylphate in an air tight container and give it a good shake. Some people think it is a good idea to include bleach in the mix, but that will actually cause a great deal of damage to the liner. The distilled water and sodium thiosylphate are all it takes to keep the water clean and free of bacteria.
Having this style of bed can be great, but it will become a big hassle if it is not properly maintained. Allowing fungus and algae to build up inside the mattress will cause bubbles that make it uncomfortable to sleep and an odor that will make it unbearable just to be in the bedroom. In addition, they can cause damage that will considerably shorten the life of the waterbed. Take care of your bed by using waterbed conditioner at least once a year.
