Trivandrum Mail, which is an overnight train from Chennai to Aluva is supposed to be the best option to travel from Chennai to Munnar via train. Another train which provides services from Chennai to Aluva is the Ms Guruvayur Express No: 16127 which starts from the Chennai Egmore station at 7:40 am and reaches Aluva by 4:50 am taking a travel time of about 21 hours on all the days.

There are flights available from Chennai to Kochi, from where Munnar can be easily reached in the taxis and buses that are available from there. It takes about 2 hours to travel from the airport to Munnar City Center.

The cabs and taxis available to travel from Chennai to Munnar will take about 10 to 12 hours to reach Munnar from the capital city of Tamilnadu, Chennai. These cabs and taxis charge from about 12 to 45 rupees per kilometer depending upon the type of vehicle chosen to travel from Chennai to Munnar.
