However, it's not always easy and it doesn't always give you the results you want so badly. However, consider this - you won't get them back if you don't try. Even if it doesn't happen, you'll know you did all you could.

#1 Don't Be a Stranger

You may feel embarrassed by contacting your former partner. Perhaps you are uncomfortable with how the relationship ended. Perhaps infidelity was a problem. However, you need to contact your ex and let them know you want to talk. This does not mean texting, emailing, and calling them fifty times a day. This means making one effort to let them know you miss them. You may be surprised when they are feeling the same thing. Be prepared. You will both have to address the issues that caused the breakup in the first place. This can also be uncomfortable, but honesty is most definitely required here before the relationship can be rekindled.

#2 Don't Avoid Your Ex's Friends

Let's face it. Mutual friends inevitably end up choosing sides during a breakup. Don't burn the bridges to those who stand by your former lover. Talk to them if they will allow it. Tell them that you want to know if they have any ideas on ways to get your ex back. Again, be prepared. Those friends may not want you two back together. However, they may also become one of your best allies in the endeavor.

#3 Don't Try Jealousy

It's very tempting to try and make your ex jealous. You want them to know that others find you attractive and interesting. However, it's a plan that can often backfire. They may think there is no chance at reconciliation. You could even push them into the arms of another person. Don't take this chance.
