1.Chia Gel

Chia gel can be easily made using things you already have at home. Just mix 1/3 of a cup of seeds with 2 cups of water, and then mix thoroughly. The water will soften and expand the seeds, but you have to give it time to do so. Give it approximately 20 minutes to do this, and then mix again before keeping it in an airtight container in the fridge. This gel will keep for 3 weeks in the fridge. You can use it as a substitute for milk, eggs, butter and oil.

2.Chia Butter


Combine chia gel and softened butter in equal proportions. Blend these two together until you end up with a thoroughly mixed and smooth butter. Refrigerate in a tightly-sealed container. If you need butter for your toast, or for cooking or baking, you can use this instead. To improve its taste, you can incorporate some herbs to produce a more savory chia butter.

3.Chia Flour

Grinding the chia seeds into a floury texture will allow you to incorporate this health food into your homemade foods such as pizza bases, cookies, biscuits and more. Combine this flour with whole wheat or barley flour, starting off with a 1:1 ratio to test the resulting combination. Try different ratios to discover what"s best for you. It is also possible to use the chia flour without combining it with the others. Such a flour, because it is made of seeds, can belong to the gluten-free category, so your friends that have gluten allergy can eat the foods you use chia flour with.

4.Chia Fresca

Combine a spoonful of chia seeds and a glass of lemonade, sparkling drink or water and you get this very special drink that is popular in South America. Once again, allow the seeds to expand and soften in the water before actually using it. You will know it"s ready when the seeds begin to look gelatinous in appearance.
