Ways To Lower The Risk Of Bed Bugs Entering The Home
Widespread travel is a wonderful thing, but it is also causing a lot of problems around the world
. More and more people are contracting illnesses and bringing them home from abroad, spreading disease that is often life-threatening. Along with that, there has been a resurgence of bedbugs. That's why, regardless of where you travel, it's important to reduce the risk of bed bugs entering your home.
Hotels around the world, including North America have had to deal with them of late. Why? Even though they do all they can, these pests can enter hotel rooms through suitcases of other travelers. In the same way, they can get into their own homes.
Obviously, even five-star hotels are not immune to this problem. As they come out of hiding from the suitcase, they enter the mattresses. When they go back into hiding, they can easily find refuge in the next traveler's suitcase. As you can see, it goes on and on and the problem spreads more and more.
So, you have to do something to stop this vicious circle. The most important thing you can do is avoid them from ever entering your home. That's why caution is highly recommended whenever you stay in a hotel. Bring some tools with you, but don't worry they are light weight and insignificant.
Basically to your tools will be in the form of plastic bags, tape, and a tape gun. The moment you enter your hotel room, ensure that all your clothes are removed from your suitcase and hung. Then, place your suitcase in the plastic bag or plastic wrap and seal it with the tape. This will keep the bugs out of your bag and avoid you from taking them home.
Each time you change your clothes, you should put them in a bag. When your trip is finished, put all your clothes in this bag and seal it. When you arrive at home, simply put your bag in the freezer for approximately 2 weeks. This will ensure that if there are any bugs, they will be killed.
Even know it may look like quite an effort, the fact that you are reducing your risk of having an infestation occur in your home is the best thing you can do. It isn't very easy to remove these bugs because they are extremely small and can hide almost anywhere, even under baseboards, or between hardwood strips of flooring. Of course, they really don't spread disease or hurt humans, so that's the only upside. But they are extremely annoying and cause rashes on anyone that they have fed on.
