Google has certainly grown to be a power to be reckoned with

. From its tiny beginnings as an internet search engine, it has now spread far and large and extended its reach to many other areas as well.

Still, its search engine is as powerful as ever, and commands a huge amount of the traffic that courses through the internet on a daily basis. As such, tapping into the power of Google is as essential as ever for any marketer who wants to stand a chance at running any type of online business.

As part of Google's expansion however, currently there are two key ways to tap into this power, and they are:

1.Search engine results


Naturally, this is the classical method of taking advantage of Google. By appearing high up in the search engine results for any given keyword, you will realize that the exposure your website receives is nothing short of remarkable.

Granted though, this method is fairly hard to use and requires you to have a excellent understanding of not just keywords and their importance, but also the search engine algorithm that Google uses itself.

In summary, you will need a lot of backlinks and other types of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in order to have a shot at ranking high enough on the results for your website to get noticed.

Fortunately, there is an alternative.

2.Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising

PPC advertising is something that came up as a result of Google's expansion and it has now grown into a huge online industry. Essentially the theory behind it is simple enough, and advertisers pay for each time a potential customer 'clicks' on their advertisement.

Through Google's AdWords system, practically anyone can use PPC advertising and gain a lot of exposure without having to go through the standard ground work that comes as part and parcel of attempting to get on search engine results.

However, this method is going to cost you - and it can take some time to master. That means that you are going to have to be willing to spend money while you are still on the learning curve.

In the end, both of these methods represent the keys to tapping into the power of Google, and it is entirely up to you as to which strikes your fancy more. In the long term, PPC advertising could be extremely powerful, but the high start up costs often put newcomers off it.

If so, you could always fall back to the more traditional, proven methods of getting on search engine rankings!
