We Compare Displays On The Htc One S And One V

When HTC first unveiled their latest range of mobile phones much attention was focused on the flagship One X model

. There are however two other excellent phones in this new line up which are the HTC One S and the One V. These models may not offer the premium specification of their big brother but they do both boast some excellent features. We take a look at screen quality on these two devices and also see how they compare in terms of deign.

The HTC One S is the larger of the two handsets as it incorporates the bigger display. The model measures 130.9 x 65 x 7.8 mm and weighs just 119.5 grammes. The figure that really stands out here is the 7.8mm depth of the model which makes the handset one of the thinnest device currently available. The model offers a smooth and curvy design that reminds us of the eye catching Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The corners of the phone are neatly rounded and an attractive bezel surrounds the screen that lets users glimpse the attractive grey bodywork from the front of the device. The HTC One V is much more similar to many of HTC's older models which often lacked the attractive design sported by many of their rivals. This phone does not look bad but it does not catch the eye in the same manner as the One S does. The phone is the smaller of the two devices measuring 120.3 x59.7 x 9.2mm and weighing 115 grammes. The model features a raised area beneath the screen which we assume is to help users grip the phone but we cannot help but feel that it detracts from the visual appeal of the device. Compared to many entry level smartphones the One V looks very impressive but it lacks the style that is offered by the slightly more premium One S.

The HTC One S features a 4.3 inch screen which is the size favoured by many popular models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2. The screen uses Super AMOLED technology which is regarded as the brightest display panel available and it is also very power efficient. A maximum resolution of 960 x 540 can be displayed which means that the model can offer a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch. The screen is incredibly resistant to knocks and scratches as it is made from Gorilla Glass which is developed by Corning. This material is much stronger than more traditional glass panels. The HTC One V uses a smaller 3.7 inch screen which will help the model to appeal to consumers looking for a more compact device. The screen is an LCD panel so it lacks the brightness of the One X but generally image quality is very good. A resolution of 800 x 480 can be displayed but because of the smaller screen the model offers a similar pixel density to the One S of 252 pixels per inch.

The HTC One S and One V are ideal handsets for consumers looking for great features but who do not want to pay a premium price for a premium model. The One S is the nicer looking of the two phones and offers the better screen technology but the One V is perfect for users looking for a very compact smartphone without sacrificing functionality.
