This is yet another great performance by Mark Ruffalo as Jack Linden that goes unnoticed by the film critics as usual. It is directed by John Curran. It has been produced by Naomi Watts, Harvey Kahn and Jonas Goodman. It has a screenplay written by Larry Gross, but is also based on two novellas, We Don't Live Here Anymore and Adultery by Andre Dubus, II. It stars Naomi Watts herself as Edith Evans, besides Laura Dern and Peter Krause. It was distributed by Warner Independent Pictures and was released on January 20, 2004 in the United States. It had a budget of $3,000,000 and earned $2,037,545 in gross revenue. It has 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 123 reviews and it has a star rating of 6.3 on IMDb. It earned Laura Dern Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress where she had a tie with Sharon Warren for her performance as Aretha Williams in the movie, Ray. The movie is a drama about an indiscretion between two close friends because of which their respective marriages are torn down. The movie is set in the Washington state, but was shot around Vancouver, Canada.

The movie is really good for spending a good time watching it. It has wonderful performance by Mark Ruffalo. As usual, he gives his best shot to this project as well and does not disappoint his fans at all. The movie is an art piece itself and has to be seen from the perspective of the director who portrayed the movie in a different way than many other people would have if they were to make a movie out of the two novellas on which it is based. The movie has a taste of its own and will not be a waste of money to have it in one's personal collection of movies. Naomi Watts does a brilliant job as well along with the other actors who also made stunning performances for this movie. If you have time, you can see it over and over again and yet the movie will not lose its fresh taste. Go see it if you have not had the chance as yet.
