We Play A Key Roll In Expanded College Use Of Online Scheduling Software
Students begin returning to college campuses across North America this week as another school year starts
. This year, students will see more opportunities than ever before to schedule appointments for critical campus services via the Internet. Utilizing Appointment-Plus online appointment software, academic advising offices, testing centers, room scheduling centers, tutoring centers and many other campus service providers will allow students to schedule their own appointments and reservations via the Internet. Taking advantage of a student base familiar with working and buying via the Internet, campuses using Appointment-Plus will increase their own internal efficiency and upgrade student satisfaction at the same time.
The increasing use of web-based scheduling software in the college setting will be highlighted on September 5, 2008, at the National College Testing Association Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Ryan Kelly of Appointment-Plus and Adam Birkholz of Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) have been invited to make a presentation to the conference on the use of Appointment-Plus software in the college testing center environment. The National College Testing Association is the largest organization of college testing center professionals in the world, representing over 1000 colleges and universities.
The presentation will focus on the results of implementation of Appointment-Plus software at Chippewa Valley Technical College, a large technical college in Wisconsin with five campuses across the state. Statistics provided by Adam Birkholz demonstrate that in the first year of availability nearly 50% of all appointments for CVTC's testing centers were booked by the students themselves via the Internet without the need for involving campus personnel. Statistics developed by CVTC indicate that the system saved CVTC over 125 hours of personnel time in dealing with the scheduling of these appointments.
"We were pleased to see that the adoption rate by students in the first year of use was so high," said Stephanie Hiatt of Appointment-Plus. "We knew students would enjoy the convenience of scheduling their own appointments on the Internet."
In addition to the upcoming National College Testing Association presentation, further evidence of the expanding roll of Appointment-Plus at colleges and universities was also seen in several implementations of the software over the summer months. Included in the list of new institutions using Appointment-Plus were schools such as EDMC Higher Education (the parent group for Argosy University, South University and the Art Institute), the University of San Diego, Columbia University, University of Minnesota, and Rowan Cabarrus Community College. EDMC chose Appointment-Plus as its scheduling solution for all online operations. Appointment-Plus now serves over 100 colleges and universities across North America.
