In the modern American world, individuals may take water works products for granted

. We are so accustomed to being able to turn on the faucet in the sink, bathtub, or shower, to wash our hands or take a long, hot soak in a bubble bath. We also take toilets and municipal sewer systems for granted. All we have to do is just push a little silver lever to flush the toilet with no thought about the miraculous systems that are working behind the scenes so that we can have these luxuries. Not everyone in the world is so lucky.

In some countries, the idea of clean water flowing from taps into glasses, into washing machines, or out of the shower nozzle would be unheard of. Many people are still hauling drinking and household water in jugs and portable reservoirs on the back of their trucks to use at their homes. Even in the U.S., individuals who live off the grid or in a very rural area have to haul their own for use in their house. Individuals who have to haul these heavy containers and then refill them when they're empty are surely careful not to waste a drop. They wouldn't leave the tap running while they were chatting on the phone or watching TV. In order for plumbing to flow in and drain out, there are many pipes connected in the house and buried in the ground outside. Pipes may be made from a variety of materials such as iron, copper, or plastic.

The flushable toilet is another luxury that many in the world and even in our country don't have easy access to. Rural dwellers that aren't hooked up to the municipal sewage system will have to rely on their own systems such as septic tanks, composting toilets, alternative systems, or even the old-fashioned outhouse. Systems that are hooked up to the city sewer will be utilizing a maze of pipes, backflow mechanisms, and other water works products. If a homeowner uses a septic tank system, the pipes will run from the toilet to a holding tank buried in the yard. From the septic tank, the flushed material will eventually run out into a designated leech field so that the process is safe and hygienic.

Whatever systems are being used, there will be a need for pipe that is both sturdy yet adaptable. It has to be strong enough to not erode with the passing of fluid and to withstand being buried under ground. Pipes can be made adaptable and flexible with fittings that are flanged or have mechanical joints. Water works products come in a variety of sizes, weights, and shapes to suit the need, plus fittings for drainage pipe.

Every time we turn on the faucet for a drink of pure, thirst-quenching water, fill a pot to boil some pasta for a spaghetti dinner, or toss a load of laundry into the washing machine, we should thank the water works products manufacturers. We are spoiled and should always be grateful for the readily accessible flow that we have constant access to.
