They were so designed so as to provide ventilation for those working in hotter environment such as ships and also serve as an improvised life-preserver by removing the jeans and tying the legs together.

From uniform to a symbol of rebellion by the youth and teenagers, the jeans became a rage amongst the young crowd after they were featured in the movie 'Rebel Without a Cause'. Due to the strong influence, jeans were banned in theaters, schools and even restaurants!

Then gradually, by the 60s and 70s, jeans had become more acceptable fashion and were sported by a large number of people, without creating ruckus. Jeans were fully revolutionized when the stone wash technique came into being. This made jeans more attractive and something that everyone would want to wear and flaunt. And since then, various styles and fashions have lead jeans to evolve and present themselves in a new way every time.

Today, there are several forms of jeans that one can chose from. High waist, low waist, slim fits, boot cuts and flared, jeans have surely become versatile!
