Wearing Rad Uniforms Is Essential While Studying At The Royal Academy Of Dance

. But there is no right answer for this question. Some call dancing their way of life, some think it the best way for self-expression and some just find consolation in it. But regardless of the manifold reasons a growing number of parents, relatives and neighbours in the neighbourhood send their children to dance schools or dance academies. These dance schools and academies play a crucial role in any dancer's motivation and career as they help to determine whether one wants to stay an amateur or, conversely, start practicing at a professional level. Obviously, it all depends on the child's inclinations and willingness to learn.

Dancers have to pass numerous exams and auditions before they proceed from an amateur to a professional level. Furthermore, any dance school or academy has set its own regulations and standards like in any other school. For instance, the UK's Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), one of the most influential dance education and training institutions in the world, has established certain standards concerning dancewear, footwear and accessories for its students during their classes. Its RAD uniforms have gained worldwide popularity and are associated with classic style and finesse.

But the Royal Academy of Dance is not only famous for its RAD uniforms. Lots of dancers of any level or ability enter the Royal Academy of Dance to make progress and achieve great results in dancing. They all know that this institution is their shortest way to dancing stardom. It offers different examination programmes for both male and female dancers of all age groups. They are developed for both experienced dancers and those who are tyros at ballet. Those who do their best end up with good results and gain prestigious qualifications.

As far as RAD uniforms are concerned, those studying ballet under RAD regulations may find it useful to learn some basic facts about this specific uniform. First, RAD ballet clothes meet the requirements of the RAD syllabus which is graded according to the dancer's ability or, in case of young children, their age. Young boys and girls start by attending pre-primary and primary ballet classes and then progress through grades 1 to 8. Similarly, dancewear requirements keep changing through all the grades not to mention that male and female dancewear requirements differ as well.

Boys' RAD uniforms for pre-primary and primary classes consist of white short-sleeved leotards with navy or black cotton or lycra ballet shorts. On their feet they should wear white ankle socks and either white canvas or black leather ballet shoes. Through grades 1 to 8 male dancers continue to wear leotards and ballet shorts but they can also switch to navy stirrup tights and more mature sleeveless leotards.

Girls' RAD uniforms are made up of pink, pale blue or lilac short-sleeved leotards with a matching voile skirt or wrapover skirt. Girls also wear white ankle socks or pink ballet tights with pink satin or leather ballet shoes. Grade 1 allows girls to have a greater choice of leotards in a wider range of colours. Usually, character work starts in grade 1 so girls need low-heeled canvas character shoes and a character skirt that matches the colour of the leotard. It is also important that the bottom hem of the skirt reaches mid calf. There are few changes when moving up to higher grades except that a short-sleeved leotard is replaced with a sleeveless leotard and there appears a choice for convertible tights.

Thus, when studying at the Royal Academy of Dance, readiness for classes assumes wearing proper RAD uniforms for ballet examinations and practical lessons. RAD students of any age should stick to the high standards and regulations set by this institution, therefore, it is important that they choose appropriate outfits in which they would feel comfortable taking their exams or practicing.
