In this article I'm going to explain to you exactly how I would go about performing on page SEO. Hopefully by explaining it in this way you will more easily understand that on page SEO really isn't that hard. Before you even start trying to do any website design, you should make yourself an on page SEO check-list. The purpose of this check-list is to insure nothing is forgotten, and that your website is doing its utmost to promote itself to Google. Google's search engine receives over 80% off search engine traffic, and that's why we're targeting Google. Here's my check-list of things I've found they look at. URL name Page Name Meta tags Header tags On screen text Pictures Links The Url of your website should include your main keywords, whilst also explaining your websites purpose. If you neglect your keyword use here you give a large advantage to your competition. Next is the page name and I strongly suggest you don't just name it Home. Its amazing how many websites I see that are telling Google their website is about home. Seriously its very important to make sure you have any page name promoting your main niche search term, and not wasted on the classic Home tag Meta tags are labels within the code of your website, that tell search engines what its about. Now meta tags aren't the important part of on page SEO they used to be, but they are still worth doing. Whilst Google pay very little attention to meta tags, its important to know that many other search engines do. So by making sure that your meta tags are accurately describing your website, you will be helping a percentage of the time, whilst never hindering yourself. In my opinion I think there's still a good case to be made for meta tags so I always do mine. Next I go through my design and make sure that all of my header tags are using my targeted keywords. The header tags are the larger writing you see above different subjects. In html they are shown as H1 through numerically to H6. A header tag is taken as an important description of what your website is about by the search engines, so use targeted keywords and make the most of them. On screen text should include your keywords roughly every 200-400 words. I've found this the best ratio but it may differ depending on your niche, so don't stick to closely to these figures is it ruins the flow of your text. Pictures should all be named after your niche keywords as they are the search engines only means of determining their content. Don't forget that image tags are also included in Google's search criteria, and winning over Google is what on page SEO is all about. Lastly I always check my on page links, as its a disaster when you find your links aren't working. Imagine promoting a site where nobody could buy from you due to a faulty link. It would I'm sure not leave you in a good mood. I always make sure I check my websites links, as I know I'll regret it later if I don't.About the Author:
