Website Seo Is Getting More Difficult And Requires More Skill After Google Pengiun
On the 24th of April, 2012, Google executed an algorithm update
. The industry calls this update the Google Penguin update. After the update, far too many website owners discover that their sites need disappeared from the search results. Top ranking sites that used to occupy top positions in search results are now nowhere to be found.
So what happened during this update?
Google's claim, of course, revolved around quality issues. To be fair, this isn't the first time Google went by following a main update. Google search engine updates are enforced regularly to ensure that the search results stay clean and relevant. What does that mean? It means the updates are meant to get rid of lower quality sites. Ideally, after the updates, the high quality sites should be left in the search results.
Unfavourably, no algorithm update is perfect. So after each update, innocent bystanders discover that they need been affected too. Sites that are 100% legitimate are gone from the search results.
A quick search on the Internet will reveal these insights.
1) Many of the smaller web pages are gone, leaving the main players with more traffic.
2) Many high quality sites lost their rankings. Some low quality sites actually benefited from the latest update since far too many legitimate sites are gone. In any way, this is the exception rather than the norm.
3) Back links appear to be of less importance. In the past, low quality sites can out rank big sites simply based on link popularity. After the update, this does not appear to be true anymore.
So what should website owners do after the penguin update? Here are some tips.
1) Continue link building but avoid low quality sites at all cost. Go for quality rather than quantity.
2) Publish only original content on your site and do not re-publish the same content elsewhere. This is to prevent duplicate content being found on other sites.
3) Publish new content regularly and build up the content to a sizable repository. This requires persistence and patience. Publish at least 2 to 5 posts every week. Over time, your site will need more content than your competitors. That is when you stand a better chance of getting higher rankings.
4) Quality is everything. Publish useful materials only. Avoid publishing content that is solely based on word count. Word count means nothing. What you want to achieve is to add value to your site. You can't do that with useless content. A 300 word article with useful content is worth a lot more than a 3000 word thesis that offers little.
If SEO gets a little too tough for you, perhaps you might take hiring SEO expert to market your site. SEO experts tend to agree what the search engines are trying to achieve. They should be able to bring adequate guidance to help you achieve your SEO goals. In other words, Find credible experts to work with and rely on their expertise for success.
