No matter how big a wedding budget you have, you're still always going to try and save money and one huge expense for every wedding is the wedding dcor. A lot of people manage to save on the reception by having a simple cocktail or tea reception but what you can't escape from, are the wedding decorations. You have to decorate the reception area and ceremony area separately and while serving sandwiches and tea may cost less than serving a three course meal, you have to decorate tables and chairs regardless of what's on your menu.
Props are a common wedding decoration and can include things like archways and trees. These bigger props should always be rented instead of built or bought. Even if your dad or brother insist on making an archway for you to walk through on your wedding day, talk them out of it because it will still cost money to get the material and that money can go to something else for the wedding.
Use decorations that you can reuse; flowers are one thing that cost a lot and can't be kept forever. Minimize the use of flowers and try party rental places for things to use as centerpieces. Find ways to make candle holders or candelabras work with your theme, use fabrics and confetti. You can always get centerpieces like fresh fruit arrangements or fruit bouquets that can be both a dessert and part of the dcor. Not only will the edible centerpieces give a unique touch to your wedding arrangements, you won't have to keep them around forever.
