Today mom pulled out her old wedding memory box. She called out to me from down the hall, and told me to meet her in the dining room. I sat down next to my mom who gently placed a lace covered box on the table. She untied the satiny lavender ribbon and lifted the top, opening the well preserved memory filled box. The first thing she removed from her box was a smaller box labeled, wedding stationery. She opened the smaller equally beautifully adorned box, as she said "this is just one of each of my invitations, save the date card, seat assignment card, and thank you wedding card."

Oh my goodness. I touched my mom on her hand as tears welled up in my eyes. Mom, Ill be right back. I went to the room that I kept all of my wedding items in and grabbed my box labeled wedding stationery. I sat back down at the table next to my mom and opened the box. I handed the first piece of wedding stationery to my mom. Her hand immediately went up to her mouth and tears began to form in the corners of her eyes. Oh my goodness is right; this is a modern version of my wedding stationery, invitation, save the date and thank you wedding card.

We placed both sets of wedding stationery side by side. We placed the invitations side by side. Then we moved on to the save the date and thank you wedding card, putting them next to each other. We began to compare. I had no idea I was so much like my mother, especially to choose designs and colors that were so much like her choices over twenty two years ago. Our colors were lavender. We both chose similar flowers. My floral choice was an orchid and hers a lily. We switched over to the invitations. I softly ran my hand over the raised lily on hers as she did the same to the orchid on mine. The biggest difference was the fact that I had a few very thin pieces of satin ribbon tied around the stem of the orchid that ran the length of the wedding card programs and seat assignment wedding card.

As we moved on to the rest of her wedding memorabilia, all I could think was, what a mother daughter moment this turned out to be.
