Cut out all drinks but water. It almost seems too simple, but one of the best ways to drastically cut down on how many calories you consume is to simply cut out all of the drinks like fruit juices, energy drinks and soda you drink each day. Cold water is good. Water has no calories. It can help keep you properly hydrated throughout the day as well as improve your overall level of health. Even if you cut out just two servings of soda pop a day you will be cutting out at least a couple hundred calories (depending on what kind of soda you are drinking). Not only does replacing other drinks with water cut down on your calories it also cuts down on your sugar and high fructose corn syrup consumption and cut out other ingredients that might be harmful for your health.
Begin looking at the labels on the foods you buy. You might think that this is a time waster or too much of a hassle but believe us when we tell you that ingredients do matter. You want to avoid things like high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. Make trans fats your enemy. The foods you buy should not have any of these ingredients in them. Buy new and healthier brands as substitutes for the less nutritious brands that you have been buying. You might not notice a big difference at first but you'll probably notice that your body has a better reaction to these foods.
Find something to distract you when you exercise. Listen to some music or position your treadmill in front of a television set. If you ride a stationary bicycle, try reading a book. A good distraction will pull your focus away from the work you are making your body do. If you have something else to occupy your mind, you are more likely to keep doing your workouts. Distractions are a great anti-boredom device. If you get bored during your workout you are more likely to slack off and then you won't see the results that you were hoping to see.
