The dryness, the deserts, the heat--this must the reason for these weird and wacky

laws in the Southwest: Weve compiled a number of these weird laws below.

Texas

- In Texas, it is illegal to take more than three sips of beer while standing.

- You are not allowed to shoot at a buffalo from the second story of a hotel.

- A recently passed anticrime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, orally or in writing, to explain the nature of the crime to be committed. Excuse me, sir, but I would like to rob your house tonight...

- In Austin, wire cutters cannot be carried in your pocket.

- In Beaumont, collegiate football is banned at Lamar University.

- Keep walking in Galveston, because any person who sits on the sidewalk can be fined up to $500.

- In Port Arthur, obnoxious odors may not be emitted while in an elevator.

- And in Texarkana, owners cannot ride their horses at night without tail lights.

Arizona

- Hee haw, it is illegal for donkeys to sleep in bathtubs.

- You can potentially go to jail for up to 25 years for cutting down a cactus.

- It is also unlawful to refuse a glass of water to someone.

- In Tombstone, it is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one tooth missing that is visible when smiling.

Nevada

- It is illegal to drive a camel on the highway.

- Keep walking in Reno, too, because it is illegal to lie down on the sidewalk, or to put benches in the middle of the street.

Colorado

- One may not mutilate a rock in a state park.

- Forget all those warnings! Tags may be ripped off of pillows and mattresses.

- In Aspen, catapults may not be fired at buildings.

- In Boulder, it is illegal to let your llama graze on city property. Boulders are also not allowed to be rolled on city property.

- Yee hah, you are allowed to wear a holstered 6-gun in the city of Colorado Springs, except on Sunday, Election Day or holidays.

- In Pueblo, it is illegal to let a dandelion grow within city limits.
