The Wembley Arena is another one of London's many landmarks. Destined to make a name for itself in the entertainment world, it was once a vast parkland dedicated to exhibitions. Opened in 1924 the British Empire Exhibition was assigned to the professions and countries of the empire and was touted as a place to go with the family. With parks allotted to arts, engineering, industries and lakes that were picturesque it was an extremely successful attraction for visitors. But unable to garner a profit it soon fell into disrepair and was sold off in parts. Remerging again in 1934 when the Empire pool was built, it had the privilege of hosting the Commonwealth Games that year as well as many other events such as Ice Hockey, Boxing, music events and even the 1948 Olympics.

It was music that finally took roots in the Empire Pool, especially when Rock n' Roll crashed over the world. The pool was boarded over, a stage constructed and it soon became a venue for the music industries' hot shots like The Beatles and Shirley Bassey to perform. The year 1978 saw the venue change its name to Wembley Arena and rise to fame, with a seating capacity of 12,000. At present Wembley Arena boasts of top notch acoustics with an even bigger seating area and some of the world's most sensational artists to have graced its stage. Having celebrated 75 years of history in 2009, Wembley Arena continues to draw some of the biggest crowds and the best names in the music industry to its gates.
