A public university that is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania in United States, West Chester University of Pennsylvania is at a distance of about 40 kilometers from the city of Philadelphia to the west. Brief Background
Origin of the university goes back to private, state aided school of 1812-69 that became West Chester Normal School in 1871. It was the first school that the commonwealth of Pennsylvania won outright in 1913. Acquiring college status in 1927 with a four year program it continued as such till 1960 when it introduced the liberal arts program. The institute acquired university status in 1983. Well known as the center of the Nation for formal poetry, it is also only conference that is devoted to New Formalism. West Chester University is accredited by Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools or MSACS.
