Soccer has taken over the world in many ways and it is the most popular sport to play around the entire world. There are kids that play soccer around the globe that start when they are young and continue to play in the streets until they are older. These players grow older and they go on to represent their respective countries against the other teams around the world. This is made possible through an event called the World Cup.
The World Cup has been around for years and years and is an event where the best teams from countries all over the earth get together to decide which team is the best team of all of the teams in the world. With soccer being so popular around the world, the event has become the most popular event of any sporting event in the world. In fact, the event is probably even more popular than any non-sporting event and is truly an amazing thing.
Fans get together and cheer on their country to win the tournament. After their country is knocked out they seem to continue to follow the games and they care to find out what team will ultimately win the World Cup. The World Cup in 1974 was one of the great events in the history of the World Cup. The event was held in West Germany.
The event held teams 16 different teams representing their respective countries and regions. These teams played in 9 different venues that were in 9 different host cities.
The teams that qualified for the main part of the tournament included West Germany, Sweden, Poland, Scotland, Netherlands, Brazil, East Germany, Yugoslavia, Italy, Chile, Bulgaria, Argentina, Zaire, Haiti, Australia and Uruguay. These teams played their hearts out in hopes of taking home a World Cup championship to their respective countries. The teams that were eliminated in the first round included the likes of Zaire, Haiti, Australia, Uruguay, Bulgaria, Chile, Italy and Scotland. While some of these teams did manage to put forth solid efforts, they were unable to beat their opponents and were thus eliminated from play.
In the 2nd group stage there were 4 more teams that we eliminated from play. The teams included some solid teams such as Yugoslavia, Argentina, Sweden and East Germany. This was a tough loss for East Germany as they were so close to their homes but they were unable to place in the tournament.
The third place finisher in the tournament was Poland. Poland was a solid team and they managed to beat out Brazil for the 3rd place spot in the tournament. This left Brazil as the 4th place finisher in the tournament.
The two teams remaining were the Netherlands and West Germany. These teams played hard, but in the end only one team would be able to claim the title as champion. West Germany was the home team and they managed to win the game in front of their home crowd. This was a great finish for West Germany.
