Each year, the Cleveland Magazine compiles the list based on peer reviews through topDentists LLC. Through confidential surveys, professional dentists will recommend if a nominee should be included based on years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients and physical results. No payments are accepted or asked for in exchange for inclusion on the list and surveys remain completely confidential.

After being nominated by their peers, topDentists LLC will check the dentists against state dental boards for disciplinary actions and make sure they have an active license. Once they have been cleared, they are officially accepted to the Top Dentists list.
