These guidelines are meant to make sure that your packages do not get damaged in any way. However, if they do get damaged, these packing guidelines must have been adhered to in order for you to make a successful insurance claim, which is why it is so important that they are followed.

These guidelines are so important to insurance claims that they will require proof that they were followed. When you make a claim on courier insurance they usually require the original packaging to be presented as part of the claim. That way they can verify that all the guidelines were followed. For instance, if a courier has a rule against shipping anything with liquid in it, this is a rule you don't want to break. If you shipped something with liquid in it which then spilled and damaged other packages, there is a very real chance that you could then end up being held liable for those damages because of the violation of the guidelines. Always read them thoroughly, and be sure to follow them to the letter for maximum protection.
