When I first learned about market leaders it was when I read a book written by the great Jesse Livermore called How to Trade in Stocks
. So you understand just how good of a trader he was, he was able to amass a fortune of about 300 million dollars in the 1930s throughout the course of his life. The story in which he writes about himself goes something like this. He was on his yacht vacationing from trading and taking some alone time to reflect on his life and his work. While he was fishing, suddenly an idea had dawned on him.
As Livermore was watching boats rise and fall with the oceans tide, it had then hit him that the way currents can be seen from a far while sitting and watching the water move is the same way you can get a feel for how the market will move. The same way you can see the currents coming and going lifting boats around you is the same feel you can get from watching the market and the leading currents and trends. There was a leading driving force at all times behind the market and it could be sought out if studied correctly. How do we identify these leaders and exactly how reliable is following them to identify sentiment and trend? In my next segment I will teach you how to determine such factors and their effectiveness in applying them correctly.
