What Are The Differences Between Smaller Couriers And Fedex?

Large cities are now home to vast numbers of companies that are operating in the courier industry

. Anyone that is doing business in New Jersey, for example, is going to have several different options in terms of courier service which are going to be available to them. Rather than focusing on the pros and cons of all those various companies, instead, let us examine the difference between perhaps the two primary types of courier companies. These are the small, local New Jersey Courier service companies, and the large multinational couriers like FedEx.

The upside to the smaller courier companies has to do largely with the more personal level of service that they can provide to their customers. They have a much smaller client base, and as such, can get to know each of their clients on a much more detailed personal level. This can often mean better customer service, and a company that is going to put more effort into being sure to meet your company's needs.

The other upside to smaller, local courier companies is that their prices and delivery times are often going to be better when making local deliveries. Because most of their shipments will be contained to the immediate region, they don't have to deal with the scheduling, or the costs, of a larger shipping network, something that the larger courier companies are going to have to contend with.

There are certainly some upsides to the larger companies like FedEx however. Their primary upswing is going to be the fact that they are much more suited for international shipping. For a company that is going to have to be regularly shipping goods to clients all over the world, doing business with a company like FedEx actually makes much more sense. If shipping with a smaller courier, they will only end up having to contract out the international leg of the shipment to a larger company any way.

When you're shipping with a larger company, you do have access to a much greater infrastructure. In addition to the wider shipping range you will have with this courier company, you will also be able to get much faster international shipping times. This is because the cargo will be traveling within that company's vehicles the entire way, so there will be none of the delays which are caused by transferring goods between two different courier companies and their vehicles.
