What Are The Funniest Halloween Costumes?

If you are planning on hosting or going to a Halloween party

, where the emphasis is on funny as well as scary, there are a wealth of television and film characters that can give you some ideas for a good Halloween costume. On a scale of suave to hilarious, whether to go as handsome Jack Sparrow or Long John Silver for your pirate costume, the dead parrot and wooden leg of the latter will definitely be funnier. Or for a Batman costume, another favourite, the Del Boy sketch from Only Fools and Horses provided one of the funniest TV moments ever.

Men dressing in drag have always been good for a laugh. Whether as Mortitia Addams or as the Wicked Witch of the West, lots of balloons in the right places, bony fingers, hook noses plus hairy warts and moles are all bound to go down well.

The American influence on Halloween has meant that the choice of costumes is almost endless now, and a vivid imagination will take you far.

No longer do you only go dressed as a witch or a wizard; any variety of horror or fantasy characters will do. How about Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street, Michael Myers from Halloween, or the Munch style mask from the Scream series of movies? Hannibal Lector, Count Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, or any variety of zombies, vampires and aliens are always popular, and give you a chance to put your own twist on a traditional costume. If you don't wish to dress up in something so scary, an inflatable sumo suit or a Shrek costume is ideal.

These days, most Halloween parties are more hilarious than scary with plenty of fun and clever games and activities that fit into the Halloween theme.
