Like other Dreambox, DM7020 has three types: DM700S, DM700T and DM700C. All of them are equipped with the PowerPC CPU. This type of CPU is produced by IBM. Unfortunately, this type o f CPU has only 252MHz clock frequency. While the MIPS CPU used by DM500 HD and DM8000 reaches a frequency of 400MHz. The SoC of the machine is STB04500. The RAM capacity of DM7020 is also smaller than DM500HD, DM800HD or DM8000 and equal to DM600. As we all know, the FLASH chip is used to store the operating system while the RAM chip is used to store the data produced during the decoding process. So from the information above we know that DM7020 can hardly deal with HD digital television steam and its operating system will be a little functionless than DM500HD, DM800HD or DM8000s. DM7020s default operating system can be Enigma 1 or Enigma 2 (Beta).

DM7020S can only support the DVB-S standard. It has a Common Interface and a Smartcard plot as well. One common interface may be enough, however, many Dreambox or receivers released recently have equipped with two smartcard plots. DM7020 can only supports the parallel 3.5 in hard drive, however are more serial 2.5 in hard drive nowadays. Since DM7020 doesnt support HDTV, so it wont have a HDMI or DVI port. Like other Dreambox, DM7020 has a screen as well. The material of the screen is LCD.

Form the info above, we can see that DM7020 is more powerful than DM500, however, much less powerful than DM800HD, DM500HD or DM8000. Though it doesnt suit for the HD tendency now, it can still be a good satellite signal receiver or cable TV set-top box.
