What Can You Do To Ensure Your International Parcel Doesnt Get Returned To Sender?
Sending a parcel internationally can be for many reasons
, the most common of which are birthday or Christmas gifts for family members living abroad or a business wishing to send important business parcels or documents. Both have a great sense of urgency and we hope that our parcel arrive on time, having a parcel go missing or returned to sender.
Firstly in order to ensure your parcel is returned to the sender if there are any problems you should have not only the receivers address on the parcel but also have the senders details too. The best practice for this is to write the senders details on the reverse of your parcel, clearly stating that this is the senders address. This way if your parcel fails to be delivered for any reason then you can at least make sure that your parcel will come back for you to try again at a later date.
Sending international parcels can be the root of any problems people may have had when sending a parcel and having it held up or returned. This is because when sending a parcel outside of the EU you will have to ensure your parcel is declared properly, this is done via the CN22 customs declaration form. This form informs the relevant countrys customs and excise department of what is in the parcel and its value. If parcels are over a certain value then they can be prone to charges for tax and duty.
Another aspect of sending parcels internationally is making sure that what you are sending is legal and permitted, generally most countries have the same list of items that are restricted which includes weapons, aerosols and food items which you should not try sending to an international country, if you do then your parcel will likely never reach its destination or be returned to you. You should be careful with some items such as tobacco as there are additional charges and restrictions for these products to ensure you dont send or receive too much as well as ensuring proper taxation is applied.
The most obvious and final point is ensuring your parcel is packaged properly, after all you do want your parcels to arrive in one piece and so you should use adequate parcel insulation such as bubble wrap or polystyrene. As well as protecting your parcels insides you need to ensure your protect the outside too, using a proper mailing bag made of plastic will be waterproof as well as tamper proof, but if you cant get a hold of one then try to use heavy duty parcel tape to seal all openings too.
