I recently heard from someone who had been given a CECT i9. They did not know much about the phone or what features it had. The person basically asked me: "What can I do with this phone? Is it decent? Am I better off selling it it and buying a newer model? Is the quality good?" I will try to address these questions in the following article.
The Popularity And The Quality Of The CECT i9: First of all, if you're going to inherit an iClone, this is one of the best models to inherit. The i9 is probably the most popular clone to date and the quality on it is very good. Although there have been other models that have come and gone since its release, the 9 is still among the most popular models. It's also a pretty complete phone that has nice speakers, a responsive touch screen, and pretty solid firmware. Not only that, but it's among the more sleeker models available.
The Features That Are Included On The i9: This phone is dual sim. It is also a quad band. It supports Java and Bluetooth. It allows for web browsing, emailing, messaging, and all sorts of media use. It plays and records music and video. It takes video and pictures and it's very easy to share these with the touch of a bottom. It supports hundreds of addresses and contacts. It also has a radio and allows you to read text and PDF files. There are even Java applications that allow you to download third party software like opera mini, bolt, or Skype.
So, What Can You Really Do With An i9? Well, the only feature that this phone really lacks is WiFi. And, data has arguably become so inexpensive that some would argue that this isn't that big of an issue. You can pretty much do anything on the i9 that you can do on many smart phones. You can browse online. You can download games and applications via java. You can text and IM your friends with the pop up QWERTY touch keyboard. You can download, play, or watch movies and music. You can take photos or video. You can download and read e books.
And, because you have two sim slots available, you can have two separate phone numbers or accounts if you want or need that. Many people take advantage of this, but some with use the extra slot to take advantage of the cheaper pre paid sim cards that make owning these phones very inexpensive.
So, there's an awful lot that you can do with this phone. In regards to selling it, there are newer models, but in my opinion, they aren't necessarily better. Yes, they might offer different housing or additional menu icons, but there's definitely a reason that the i9 still remains incredibly popular today. I suggested that the person who wrote me get a cheap GSM sim card and play around with the phone for a week or two to see how they liked it. I suspected that they might be pleasantly surprised.
