What Caused The Cold War

The conflict that took place involving the world's 2 super powers, the USSR and the USA was thought to be the longest non-conflict engagement conflict of all time. It's the Cold War. The 2 sides had respective allies; the NATO lead United States taking care of Western Europe and the Warsaw Pact guided by the Soviet Union controlling the Eastern side of Europe.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 finished this struggle that began immediately following World War II ended in 1945. All through this era there was very little real military contact from both sides therefore the use of the word 'cold'. However during the Vietnam and Korean Wars, even though the Cold War existed, actual shots were fired; though always directly.

As the Japanese and Nazi armies were being conquered at the end of World War II, which meant the two dominating forces, the USA and the USSR were left in the duel. Both of them had different kinds of economies along with the kinds of government. The USSR operated a Communist government and the United States of America had a capitalist system and due to conflict of interest, this descended into direct rivalry.

Far from unite; both ideologies never saw face to face. The Cold War deteriorated even more as the Communist beliefs being spread were responses to the Capitalists' policies. After the defeat of the Third Reich, the Soviet Union held a free reign within Europe with its Allies taking care of the many areas that bordered the USSR to the West.

The Iron Curtain came in to existence as Europe was split. Soviet ideologies and invasion in addition to physical enlargement further prompted uncertainty and insecurity in the West. After the implementation of the Truman Doctrine, the West promised military assistance and financial help to any nations that opposed Communism. In the early 60's Europe was dramatically split into two blocks. This meant it was a potential battleground for looming World War III and nuclear warfare. Gradually the Cold War had spread out around the planet with little nations being sucked in, making an even larger split on earth.
