What Could Be Better Than A Holiday In A London Hotel?

There is so much to see and do in London that visitors come back time after time

and still have a fabulous time in this cosmopolitan and totally vibrant city. As Samuel Johnson said, "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life." When staying at your London hotel you need to plan your itinerary carefully as most people want to pack in as much as possible during their stay. London is easy to get around in as there are the famous London Black cabs which you can see everywhere and hail them to take you wherever you want to go. London red buses also travel to all destinations. Traffic is busy in London and the London Underground can take you anywhere in London as it has a vast network of stations and is usually quicker, with trains being very frequent. It can be busy at peak times, though.

One of the most popular sights in London is Buckingham Palace itself. You can go inside for a guided tour during the summer, or you can watch the changing of the guard. Another Palace, though not used as such for many years, is Westminster Palace which is now the home of the Houses of Parliament. You can both see and hear possibly the worlds most famous time piece, Big Ben, as it tolls the hours. From your London hotel you can also visit the Tower of London, which has over nine hundred years of history within its wall, with its ravens and its Beefeaters in their red uniforms. Here you can also see the stunning and priceless crown jewels which include the unique Koh-I-Noor or mountain of light diamond. St Pauls Cathedral is another London icon, with its fabulous Whispering Gallery where every quiet word seems to crackle round the imposing dome above.

Many of the London sights are free as you walk around its streets. Tower Bridge with its high towers and drawbridge is easily recognisable, as is Nelsons Column. Guarded by the famous lions, it overlooks Trafalgar Square where you can sit and take in the true ambience of old London. Visiting most of the museums in London is also free so why not leave your London hotel and catch a tube to Kensington, where you can find the superb Natural History Museum and see the dinosaurs, plus lots of interactive displays designed to make learning fun. Just a stones throw away round the corner is the Victoria and Albert Museum of South Kensington which is one of the worlds foremost museums of art and design. There are other Victoria and Albert Museums spread about London; the branch in Bethnal Green is the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood and has a fantastic collection of toys, one of the best in the world, dating back from the sixteenth century. Who could resist their collection of teddy bears?
