The Turks of Qaz were responsible for the destruction of the town in 1027 which was followed soon after by the Mongol invasion in 1218. But Semnan again bounced back to prosperity when the Safavid and Qajar kings came to the throne. It is a beautiful city today attracting many tourists from all around the world.
