What Do You Need For Exercising In The Winter?
Irrelevant of whether you're someone who exercises regularly or not
, working out in the winter is a lot different to doing so in the summer months and not only requires for various changes to your routine, but there is also the need to invest in different equipment.
Some of the items listed below are needed for working out in the summer months and they may seem obvious to you, but the reason that they're mentioned is that they're either not obvious to people exercising for the first time or they're very often put to one side when talking about winter work outs, with the belief that they're only needed for the summer.
1. A high quality pair of trainers - arguably the most important item you need if you're planning on exercising in the winter, it's imperative that you invest in a high quality pair of trainers for numerous reasons.
Buy a cheap pair because you think you'll only be wearing them for a few hours a week and you'll find that your feet sweat, they're uncomfortable and their build quality means they aren't suitable for intensive training.
Invest in a high quality pair, however and your feet will be able breath whilst staying warm, they'll offer enough comfort and support to make exercising enjoyable and they'll last for months if not years.
Plus, buy a waterproof pair and they'll be suitable regardless of the weather.
2. Shorts - when the rain is pouring down outside and the temperature has dipped below zero, putting on a pair of shorts to exercise in might not seem like the best idea to you.
However, if you're about to head off to a gym in London and the weather conditions are dire, whilst it is advised that you wrap up on your journey, you'll find that if you try to work out in a pair of thick tracksuit bottoms and a hoody, you'll be sweating profusely in no time.
3. Water bottle - go to any gym in London or in fact anywhere around the world and you're likely to find at least one source of drinking water in the gym.
Drinking from this is fine if you're carrying out short, quick exercises and can afford to take regular breaks, if you're on a tight exercising schedule or are even just carrying out a lot of exercise in one go (take running on a treadmill as an example), you don't want to have to stop every few minutes to get a drink of water.
Buy a water bottle, fill it up before you go to the gym and keep it with you whilst you're exercising.
If you've exercised in the past and are just about to start taking a water bottle with you, you'll soon wonder what you did without it.
4. Specialist outdoor exercise clothes - if you're planning on skipping the gym and exercising by going for a run on a morning, it's important that you buy some specialist clothing that's suitable for the job.
Invest in an appropriate t-shirt, for example and it will keep you warm when you first start running - which is obviously what you want - but by the time you start sweating and feeling hot, it will allow you to stay as cool as need be, without your body temperature dropping because of the low weather temperature.
