Adobe, the giant who invented cross-platform publishing formats like Postscript and PDF and Flash, as well as the ubiquitous and incessantly emulated Photoshop: what's next for them? Well, we know they support net neutrality and open markets, because they believe, as do most innovators on the Internet, that creativity cannot exist in a world of monopoly and Internet toll roads. It stands to reason then, that Adobe's upcoming offerings continue to empower the individual over the establishment, and that is the way it should be for without it, innovation stagnates. As the saying goes, a camel is a horse designed by a committee. Although the (corporate) establishment has figured out how to manufacture stuff in great quantities with huge profits, using economies of scale and foreign labor markets, new things always come out of individuals' brains: the only forms of innovation rewarded within large corporate establishment is how to make it cheaper and get it to market faster, not how to make something altogether new or different.

Since its inception, Adobe has come up with game changers in all fields and across all platforms of personal computing. They're about to do it again in 2011, with something that leaps into the mobile market of the Android world to revolutionize all aspects of functionality and user friendliness, including speed, feature richness, and mobile device specificity. An extension of Flash 10.1, it will provide what amounts to an app platform available to the whole world of app developers except those specific to Apple devices. Flash 10.1 has features specific to mobile devices that imbue apps developed for this framework with high performance and an engrossing screen experience.

Going beyond the mobile browser and offering an ideal environment for high definition video, content, and expressive applications on a dazzling panoply of screens from desktops and netbooks and smartbooks to smartphones and tablets. Worldwide, mobile developers and content developers now have access to a beta of Flash 10.1, courtesy of Adobe. The new open platform arose from an industry-wide initiative called the Open Screen Project, led by Adobe.

And now, as icing on the cake, Adobe has announced cloud-based e-signature service.
