What Does An Immigration Dna Test Entail?

DNA testing technology can come good during verification of an alleged biological

relationship when there is an absolute dearth of credible evidence to be produced along with t he immigrant visa application. The DNA test result is the single most non-documentary methods that are approved as a proof of biological relationship. Immigration DNA testing may be suggested by a Consular Officer when it seems warranted to establish the validity of the relationship to acquire a visa.

What are the basic concepts involved? The DNA test is widely accepted as the most reliable technology to judge any biological relationship. The specimen is collected for the purpose through buccal swab wherein samples are taken from the cheek or mouth cavity. A long cotton swab is employed for collecting cells non-invasively from the inside cheek. Consular officers will only accept results of Immigration DNA test with 99.5% or higher degree of accuracy. Cheap DNA Testing can significantly compromise on the quality of the test and the facility should be researched thoroughly before posing ones trust.

How the petitioners DNA sampling process is carried out? The petitioner embarks on the process by choosing a laboratory for DNA sample to be collected. For visa purposes, the chosen lab should be essentially approved by the American Association of Blood Banks. The responsibility of setting an appointment, arranging for cheap DNA test and paying the requisite fee lies with the petitioner. The law prohibits involving a third party in this process. One should be wary of fraudulent DNA labs. The petitioner is forbidden from collecting test kits for himself or any beneficiary. On the scheduled appointment, the DNA will be submitted by a buccal swab. Following this, the clinic should mandatorily hand over the test kit straight to their primary AABB test laboratory. The AABB test site selected by the petitioner will send the test kit coupled with a prepaid and preaddressed envelope to the U.S. Embassy where the relatives are to be tested.

How is the visa applicants DNA sampling done? After the US consulate abroad obtains the DNA kit from the lab, the visa applicant will be contacted to provide samples for Immigration DNA test. The member is required to make the payment to the panel physician entrusted with conducting DNA sampling prior to appointment. A receipt is issued upon payment of a fee which is to be brought over on the scheduled appointment at US Consulate.

A new appointment is to be set if the member fails to carry the receipt. The DNA collection for the applicant is conducted inside Embassy by a designated DNA expert in the presence of Embassy officers overseeing the process. The applicant should come equipped with his passport, photo and payment receipt for DNA testing purpose of the appointment day. The Embassy will then forward the collected sample and test kit back to the accredited laboratory in the USA through the prepaid and preaddressed envelope. The test kit will not be released to the beneficiary, lab technician or any third party for being transported to the accredited laboratory. The lab sends the analysis report straight to the US Embassy. Upon reception of results, the visa applicant will be contacted by the Embassy for further application processing.
